Phil created Novum Waste Recycling in 2021 and has been part of the GRG group now for coming up four years.

“Novum is adding real value not only to the Group, but also in the marketplace adding new options in the trans frontier market. We have expanded the portfolio of offtake partners extensively over the years giving GRG the widest option of TFS routes in the UK market. We have also expanded further afield working within the group to open options in the United States.

In the last twelve months Novum has launched its consultancy service which is now offering clients across Europe and as far as the Caribbean the option to use our expertise to expand their own services.

Capacity has tightened significantly so, but through new partnerships, Novum has expanded the options available opening new routes for various recyclable materials. Novum will look to expand this further opening new niche routes into Europe and beyond

As Novum expands its options to the market, the team has also grown to meet the fast growing portfolio. We have invested in real talent, true knowledge of the market and have built a team to offer real customer service to accommodate all aspects of recycling your waste. I am very proud of the team and how they have integrated Novum into the GRG group and I am excited to grow Novum further as we look to increase the recycling options for the UK market through the coming years.”

Jess has been with Novum since day one, helping to set up all the admin side of things, including putting systems in place to ensure everything runs smoothly for when we were ready to start taking on customers for our TFS routes

Jess's role day-to-day includes a bit of everything, from overseeing TFS routes our team are putting applications in for and booking, forecasting what Novum's customers should be reaching in tonnage, and making sure they are getting the most out of their routes, and overseeing the bookings and invoicing for each load

Away from Novum, Jess has two children, and spends a lot of time keeping them entertained and going on family days out, and enjoys going for long walks, and going out for food and cocktails!

Jess has worked in the hazardous waste industry for almost 10 years, starting as a Technical Assessor before moving onto TFS Coordinator and Novum’s Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor.

Jess joined Novum from Chloros to expand into a growing TFS company and further her knowledge and experience in the field. Jess carries out the day to day booking of TFS loads for BKP & Chloros and laises with the Environment Agency on new TFS notifications and renewals.

Outside of work Jess enjoys weight training, spending time with my family and friends, going to gigs, and hiking and walking with her cocker spaniel puppy, Winnie.

Karen joined the GRG UK family in early 2022 as the Technical TFS Assessor of Novum Waste Recycling.

GRG UK is expanding rapidly and through the expansion of existing and future acquisitions Karen’s focus will be to manage all aspects of the existing and future Novum TFS portfolio. Karen’s role is fundamental, setting up all TFS notifications including the renewals, liaising with our customers, offtake and haulage to ensure each booking runs smoothly for all waste going overseas.

Away from work, Karen spends most of her time outdoors. Karen has a regular mediation and yoga practice and is a keen amateur Feng Shui enthusiast.

After graduating from Keele University with a distinction in MSc Analytical Science for Industry, Leighton began professional work in the pharmaceutical industry before moving into the waste industry as a Site Chemist.

Leighton has now been a part of the waste industry for nearly 4 years, and his overall role now as a TFS Technical Assessor is to be responsible for all technical decisions relating to TFS applications, as well as being responsible for agreed Novum TFS renewals and applications.

Away from work, Leighton likes going to the gym regularly and playing the guitar in a rock covers band and performing at gigs.

After graduating from Keele University in 2024 with a first-class honours degree in chemistry, Ben is just starting out in his professional career with Novum.

Ben’s role as TFS Admin Support & Compliance Coordinator covers a wide range including bookings, invoicing, and other areas involved in the TFS process, including providing support to the technical team where necessary. His role as compliance coordinator involves monitoring all shipments to ensure they fall in line with the specifications of each notification,  working with the wider team to ensure all operations are compliant as well as consistently reviewing and updating procedures where applicable.

In his free time, Ben is a keen golfer playing almost every weekend since the age of 6 and enjoys spending his time outdoors and going on hikes when possible.

Sarah's role at Novum is to ensure all bookings are made for our group and external customers, manage the hauliers and offtake, whilst making sure she gets as many slots for off takes as she can.

Away from Novum, Sarah has a daughter and spend most of my time taking her to dance classes, competitions, and shows, and also enjoys going on family holidays and walks with her dog Bertie.

Fran is the Group Marketing Manager for GRG, the parent of Novum. She is responsible for promoting the group through PR and all forms of digital and printed communications.

Day-to-day, Fran designs and creates imagery and videos for social media, and other advertising content such as brochures and leaflets, as well as organising and sponsoring events, and booking expos for the group to promote itself further.

Fran graduated from Keele University with a First-Class BA Hons in Marketing and Media, Communications and Culture. While studying at University, Fran worked as a part-time administrative assistant for Greenway, the sister company of Novum.

In her down time, Fran enjoys hiking in the Peak District with her partner and her dogs, Bear and Jasper.

Sarah joined the Novum team in 2023 to help with our accounts, but has been working with the Finance Team at GRG Waste UK since 2017.

During her time with the group, she has gained the full AAT qualification and is currently studying the ACCA qualification to further my knowledge and expertise

Away from work, Sarah loves spending time with her young family, walking her dog and is also a keen equestrian. She can also be found signing up to all sorts of fitness events including obstacle races and ultramarathons.
